Introduction
If you wish to reproduce or publish protected authors’ works, a permission is necessary.
Copyright is valid during the author’s lifetime and on. Copyright lasts for a period of 70 years from the end of the calendar year in which the author dies.
Reproduction of works encompases:
- Making a single copy or several copies of an author’s work;
- Storage of authors’works in electronic media;
- Making three-dimensional copies of a two-dimensional object or two-dimensional copies of a three-dimensional object;
- Synchronization (combining music with moving images or still images).
Publishing of works means placement in magazines, newspapers, on postcards etc.
The Copyright Act stipulates: a licence shall be obtained prior to usage of works. It is prohibited to use works without permission.
The conditions and the costs of reproduction and publishing are variable and depend on the category of each work.
